Pulse Check: Your Brand's Style

Sometimes I hesitate to bring up style because I know I'm biased. I'm a designer. A deeply visual person. Fonts, colors, kerning, pattern. They are my love language.

But I also know the psychology behind style and why it matters. Our eyes take in information long before our brains can process it. We see something and instantly decide. This feels right. I want to stay. Or this is not for me. I’m out of here.

Style is a hook. It’s the thing that pulls people toward you before they even know why. But strong style also lingers. It creates a feeling that stays with someone long after the first impression. I grew up on TRL and music videos, so when I hear a song from that time I immediately see the video in my mind. The visuals and the sound are intrinsically linked.

Brand style works the same way. It shapes how someone experiences you and it leaves them with a feeling. Ideally the right one. The one you want them to associate with your work.

A peek behind the scenes of what’s been happening at Good + Ready and in life lately:

• In full design mode over here. I am deep in a brand with Rebel and Creator energy. The client is bold and adventurous so it has been fun to push
• I’m also wrapping up a brand identity for a dance teacher and retreat leader with a lot of Latin influence. It has been a joy to bring that to life. Can’t wait to share it!
• On the personal side, I am in my final week of completing The Artist’s Way for the first time after four failed solo attempts. This time I gathered a small group and that changed everything. The real transformation came from the gathering itself. Planning on sharing insights soon:)
• And at home things will slow down for a bit. My wife is having knee surgery and we will be more stationary this holiday season. Wish us luck as we hunker down and embrace the coziness of the season! Glad to having friends visiting throughout December to keep us company:)
